Budini Rossi e Madri Azzurre
The first organic series, since 1994

Budini Rossi e Madri Azzurre is my first series of works with a coherent theme: breaking out of the frame.
The allegory develops around the semantics of two types of framing: the social frame — the one we are all steered toward during our formative years — and the artistic frame, meaning the visual composition within the canvas.
To put it more poetically: the Red Puddings emerge young and unleashed from their Blue Mothers in a dynamic birth. The naive youngsters try to use the momentum to launch themselves in every direction and explore the world. Unfortunately the Mothers have chosen to live in a confined space — the canvas. This limits their own freedom, and they compel their offspring to the same imprisonment.
Widely inspired by the Surrealist Masters, both in form (biomorphism, dynamism) and in concept (metaphysics, abstraction), these works represent my official entry into the Artistic adventure.
